How Congregations Can Help

Congregations can help the Trust in a number of ways. Please pray for church growth in Australia and the Trust. Here are a number of suggestions:

Special Collections

Some congregations have had special collections where Christians are asked to give a little extra which is then used for a special purpose. Why not hold a special collection for the Trust? The special collection could be collected at the same time as the first day of the week offering, by simply having some envelopes prepared that denote the money be set aside for the Trust collection. In no way does the Trust want to detract from existing giving commitments.

Regular Donation Envelopes

Some congregations have a constant supply of envelopes that are specifically marked for gifts to the Trust. These envelopes are used when Christians wish to donate a separate amount of money to the Trust. Upon receiving the envelopes in the collection, the treasurer of the congregation passes the money on to the Trust by either sending a cheque or directly depositing the donation to the Trust bank account. Details in the margin.

A Change Tin

Why not put a money box in an accessible location and encourage Christians to place their coins in it? Once your money box is full, you can remit the proceeds to the Trust.

Congregational Budgets

If you're involved in setting the congregation's budget, why not consider a regular donation to the Trust as a budget line item? It is our hope, that one day all congregations can benefit from this Trust.

Surplus Savings, Assets and Windfalls

An individual or congregation, may have some money saved or gain access to a lump sum, and wish to help the church at some point. The Trust is a great opportunity to put that money to work to help with the growth of the church in Australia.

Constitutions & Congregational Assets

Much of the land and buildings used by congregations are held by Trustees in the congregations and subject to constitutions that include clauses for the distribution of these assets in the event that the congregation should cease to exist. Though we pray this may never happen, you may wish to consider modifying your constitution to make the Trust a beneficiary in the event that any assets need to be distributed. This is simply done by contacting those that have prepared your constitution and including the 'Australian church of Christ Evangelistic Trust ABN 18 064 594 371' as a beneficiary. Don't forget to include the ABN in making this change.

Our Phase 1 target is $250,000
